Students raising one child or more “during” their studies are almost always confronted with particularly difficult situations in everyday life. There is often not enough attention paid to students with a child (children) during the “normal” study process. Single parents / students with a child/children must also cope with limited time and financial burdens which often leads to a longer study or difficulties with their studies.

By addressing General Social Counselling, students with children can get information and advice from a consultant on the following topics relating to their particular study situation:

  • BAföG for single parents and students with children

  • maternity benefits

  • parental benefits

  • child benefits

  • housing benefits

  • social welfare benefits

  • scholarships and loans

  • maintenance

  • academic leave

  • domestic relations law and guardianship

  • Childcare services on campus – e.g. in the CampusKids Daycare

  • Student initiatives/self-help groups at the universities
