Refund of semester fee – how it works
Have you de-registered, are you taking a semester off or are you in another special situation? Then, under certain conditions, you can get a refund from us for a part of your semester fees (e.g. the part of the Studentenwerk).
A refund is possible in the following cases:
- De-registration (NEW! OVGU only | At Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and Harz University of Applied Sciences, the semester fee will be automatically refunded.)
- Leave of absence
- A stay abroad (you have to provide proof of at least 6 months of study/internship)
- disabled ID card with valid stamp
- Double enrolment when transitioning from a bachelor’s to a master’s degree
Important: There are fixed deadlines for applications – these can be found in the current contribution regulations (“Beitragsordnung”). Submit the application form to Studentenwerk Magdeburg (Student Services Department) by the deadline. Required evidence can usually be submitted after the deadline.

IMPORTANT: Please note that we do not process refunds for the Deutschlandsemesterticket in case of de-registration. Due to internal procedures, this is done through a separate process at your university, provided that the applicable requirements and deadlines are met.
