Application Procedure

Who can submit an accommodation request?

Requests can be submitted by…

  1. … admitted or already enrolled students of the University of Magdeburg, the Magdeburg-Stendal University and the Harz University.
  2. … not yet enrolled students who are going onto study at the University of Magdeburg, the Magdeburg-Stendal University or the Harz University.

When can I apply for a place at a student hall?

Freshmen may apply for accommodation one semester before the intended start of study. Otherwise there are no fixed deadlines.

How long can I stay in the room at a student hall?

The room is at your disposal for 10 semesters, provided that you are a student of one of our universities. After the end of the 10th semester you will be able to submit an extension application. For compelling reasons, the tenancy contract may be extended for a maximum of 2 semesters.

How can I apply for a place in a dorm?

The application for student accommodation is only possible through our online application.

Please enter the required information in all the fields and submit the form. After sending the form you will receive an email with all datas you send us and a link for confirmation. Please check the datas for accuracy and correct them if necessary. If every datas are correct, confirm your application by clicking the confirmation-link at the bottom of email. Only after successful confirmation your application is valid.

How long will I have to wait for a place in dorm?

Usually we will send you a temporary offer for a room in dorm within 4 to 6 weeks before the desired beginning of contract. In winter semester this period of time might reduce to 1 to 2 weeks.

I received an offer – what to do now?

If you want to accept the offered place, just do the steps listed in our email within the specified time. After that we will prepaire everything for handing over the keys an the contract documents on the day you want to move in.
If you don’t want to take our offer, please send us an email as soon as possible, so we can possibly send you another offer. If we don’t receive your reply within the specified time, we will offer the room other applicants.

How long is my application valid?

If you have not yet received a dorm room, we will ask you by email every 4 weeks, if you want to get your application still upright. If so, a short confirmation is enough.

I have send several applications – wich one counts?

If you have send us more than one application, always your last application will be taken into account. All applications before it will be canceled automaticly. This might mean a worsening of your position in the waiting list. Therefore use always the possibility to change your personal informations through our application portal.

Why did I (still) do not receive a rental offer?

If you do not get a rental offer until the desired appointment, unfortunately we may not provide you a room in dorm due to high demand. Though your application will stay valid and we will ask you every 4 weeks if you are still interested.

Are there any other ways to get a dorm room?

In mid-September of each year, we assign still unmediated rooms directly in our house by principle first come first served. For this it is imperative that you have previously advertised via our online form and appear on that appointment personally. The exact date will be announced on our website.

We need to mention here that due to high demand we cannot provide places in our student halls to all students. Please contact one of our partners. Alternatively please seek advice for accomodation from private housing providers. Find more information here.
