
CreativeWorkshops
The creative workshops offer a good opportunity to “get a taste” and “live it up” – regardless of whether you are an advanced or beginner. Our workshop leaders give tips & advice, offer inspiration & space to try things out for yourself. The courses take place in the rooms of the creative workshops in the basement of J.-G.-Nathusius-Ring 1 and 2 (WH 2 and 3) and in the CampusTheater at dormitory 7 in Magdeburg. There is a registration fee of €20 per course for students. University staff and guests can take part for a fee of €45 per course, subject to availability. Click here to register directly.

Ceramic
In this creative workshop, individual vessels are produced using various construction techniques. Here you will learn the art of throwing on the potter’s wheel. Under guidance, the ceramic objects can be decorated with scraffitto, embossing and carving techniques or with glazes. All materials are provided.

Painting & Graphics
The workshop leader gives instructions and information on painting techniques with pencil, charcoal, gouache, acrylic, pastel crayon as well as tips on making linocut prints. The focus is on supporting your own projects and creativity. Together they also dedicate themselves to natural studies. All materials are provided, just bring your ideas and imagination!

Textile design
The design with fabrics ranges from simple change work to sewing of home textiles to the design and tailoring of your own garments. In the workshop basic techniques of sewing (cutting, design and development of own models) are obtained.

Knitting, crochet & macramé
This course is all about creative handicrafts: from the basics of knitting to varied crochet techniques and trendy macramé. Beginners will learn the most important techniques step by step, while advanced students can improve their skills and create their own projects. Together you will create practical and decorative pieces – from hats and scarves to plant hangers and home accessories.

Improv theater
In this course you will experience the pillars of improvisation in practice: the game, communication with each other, action and reaction, dramatic conflict, scenic movement and the trio of spontaneity-creativity-acceptance. The focus of this semester is on long-form improvisation, which involves the development of an improvised narrative. As a result of the course, there will be at least one performance at the end of the semester.

Theater in English
In this course we’ll go over major acting techniques, such as playfulness, text- and character work, stage presence and scene development. All of this practical experience results in the presentation of a sketch as a grand finale. The course is directed at everyone that wishes to practice theater in English, regardless of expertise or previous experiences.
As a result of the course there will be a performance at the end of the semester. Here, what you have learned is performed in front of an audience in the campus theater.

Photography digital
In this course, you will learn about the relationships between aperture, shutter speed and ISO value and the basics of image composition. We will apply what we have learned on photo tours. Please bring your own digital camera, a freshly charged battery and other photo accessories. The course is in German only.
