This includes expanding low-threshold counseling services, providing stronger support for student services organizations, and promoting integration and social interaction programs. Immigration authorities must process applications more quickly. Neither a degree program nor a work permit should be jeopardized by long processing times. We are committed to preserving the State Preparatory College and support student services and universities in advising international students. Internationalization is a politically mandated goal and must be reflected accordingly in the support provided for this work. For many international students, dormitories are their first point of contact, which is important. This immigration must continue to be accompanied by comprehensive support for integration into the workforce and society. Employers, local governments, and civil society organizations share a great deal of responsibility in this regard and have already achieved considerable success in Saxony-Anhalt.<br>As the state\u2019s beacons of international influence and networking, the universities make a particularly significant contribution to attracting skilled workers from around the world. We strongly support this influence. To this end, it is essential to maintain and strengthen the preparatory colleges at both locations.<br>To retain skilled workers and the next generation of academics for science and business in Saxony-Anhalt, we need a culture of welcome and a cosmopolitan atmosphere\u2014not only at universities, but throughout society as a whole. That is why taking a firm stand against all forms of racism, promoting linguistic and social integration, and ensuring the social participation of immigrants are so important. We are considering giving universities and colleges the option to charge tuition fees to non-EU foreign students. That is why we defend academic freedom and university autonomy in Saxony-Anhalt against anti-academic influences and ensure that our universities, colleges, and research institutions remain safe and attractive places to study and work for students and researchers from Saxony-Anhalt and around the world. Furthermore, we advocate for a practical and uniformly applied implementation of residence regulations for international students across the state by the immigration authorities. For the well-being of international students, it is essential that they feel welcome at their institutions of higher education. Practical training programs, dual education models, and smoother transitions from college to the job market should be specifically expanded. At the same time, international graduates need reliable prospects for remaining in the state, such as through transparent residency regulations and targeted support services to help them enter the workforce.
