ELT states that it can happen that the student does qualify for BAföG, but out of reasons which the student can not present, the student loan has not been approved or paid yet.  If the student gets into a hardship situation because of that, he can get an application at the office for Àusbildungsförderung` and apply for an interest free loan that helps him until his BAföG gets approved.  This loan will be then taken out of his first BAföG payment.

Besides this, in special cases of hardship of the students who are in need, financial help can be granted.  It is possible due to the loan for hardship of the Studentenwerks Magdeburg ( pay out of 200,00 EUR to 550 EUR for two to six months).
