Not every student is getting enough federal allowances during his/her studies. For those kind of students the KfW is provides a special form of loan (www.kfw-foerderbank.de) that provides a real good alternative opportunity to this target group.

In the Office for Education Support we consult not only loan conditions, but also check all other possibilities of the student financing (scholarship, educational loan etc.). Should a more favorable form of the student financing arise afterwards, we will point it out at you. We do our best to do justice to our legal order and own claim to an independent consultation and the best possible direct support of our students.

The payment of monthly amounts between 100 EUR and 650 EUR are done in general up to the 10th semester. A maximum of four additional professional semesters (all together then max. 14) can be sponsored if a reasonable application is given for the longer studies.
Students of age, receive the KfW-study loan:

1. study in a state or accredited college with headquarter in Germany
2. matriculated for a full-time study
3. are German natives
4. should not be older than 31 and
5. who have not accomplished a High school diploma

Also citizens from a member state of the European Union (EU citizen) can receive the KfW-study loan if they stay for at least three years constantly in the federal territory. Members of the family of German citizens as well as from EU citizens are able, in spite of her nationality and the duration of the present stay take up in the federal territory, also the study loan if they stay together with the German citizen or EU citizen in the federal territory.

Repayment starts after a grace period that can take six to 23 months. The loan has to be repaid with monthly rates that are including interests and repayments (annuities) within a maximum of 25 months.

The form needed can be found at our online credit portal or on the website www.kfw-forderbank.de. There is also a possibility filling it in directly on the website. On the basis of this form the KfW will offer you a specific contract. You will have to take this form to your KfW sales partner chosen (e.g. the "Amt für Ausbildungsförderung im Studentenwerk Magdeburg") In addition to the form you will need:

1. proof of identify
2. enrollment receipt
3. proof of a bank account
4. if necessary the form for non-German applicants
5. forms of  achievement in the higher semseters

The proof for advanced study phases needs to be produced at the sales partner.
The sales partner will forward your application form to the KfW that will then make the credit decision.
Pay out prerequisites for each other semester need to be shown to your sales partner the latest at the beginning of the semester, by showing valid student cards for  the upcoming or just started semester.
