University departments use cashless transactions using chip card
All departments of the university facilitate cashless transactions via the chip card. It spares one from the awful search for coins or change, shortens the waiting periods at the registrar and allows one to eat a meal while it is still warm.
Different types of chipcards
In the Studentenwerk and at the universities, three different types of chip cards are honored:

Where can the different chipcards be used?
- In all canteens and cafeterias.
- To make copies at all university facilities.
- To operate the laundry machines and dryers of the student homes at the Studentenwerk.
Where do I get a chipcard ?
Studentenwerk issue the grey chip card if you have the following:
The students of the university in Magdeburg and university Harz (FH) receive the student cards from the university from which they matriculated. These cards are equipped with a valet as a payment function.
Prerequisite of the payment method of the chipcard
Please charge your chip card at the marked indexer with 5,-/10,-/20,- or 50,- €- Euro bills. The credit balance on the card is limited to 100,- €.
Loss of the card
If you have lost your grey card, you can block your card by giving your student identification number or your name and you will receive a new one. Please report the loss of your student card where you have received your card.
Error messages and damages
When receiving an error on your card, contact the employee selling the card. Some mistakes can be repaired by us. Please also get in contact with us, if your card is being damaged.
Validity
The card is valid as long as you are a student or an employee of the university facility. If a student is removed from the registry of students or eliminated from the university, they must return their chipcard immediately. Unreturned Chipcards will be made null and void.
